What is In Your Head?

In Your Head is a Youth Mental Health Forum designed for students and teachers. At this one-day event, you will learn ways of maintaining good mental health from a range of keynote speakers, panelists and workshop facilitators. Be inspired by amazing heroes and discover what it is to be mentally healthy.

Cost:   Students from $35, Teachers/Adults from $15, Groups from $350 (admit 11 guests)

HEATH BLACK

Former Professional AFL Player, Mental Health Ambassador

After leaving professional football and spiralling out of control, Heath realised the full extent of his mental health issues in 2010 following the failure of his marriage, lost job opportunities, several arrests and a growing dependence on alcohol. After a series of misdiagnoses, he was finally diagnosed with both Bipolar II and Adult ADHD in 2011. Using his lived experience, Heath’s focus is on promoting the importance of looking after your mental health by making good decisions in regard to drugs, alcohol and other social situations.

ALYSSA AZAR

Youngest Australian to Summit Mt Everest

With a big goal and big vision, Alyssa has touched the top of the world. With her share of setbacks, Alyssa has never wavered in her determination becoming the youngest Australian to Summit Mt Everest, which she did at 19 years old on the 21st May 2016. Alyssa is a quietly determined individual and with her ‘can-do’ attitude, Alyssa gets in and gets the job done. Her mental and physical strength is that of someone much wiser than her years.

As a result of working in the industry for over 15 years, Marny has found that a misalignment in body, mind, soul and spirit underpin the majority of health issues.

KAI LOVEL

Camp Hero Alumni, Entrepreneur & Broadcaster

Kai is a young entrepreneur, radio broadcaster, writer, speaker and change agent, motivated by a strong sense of social justice and a passion for content creation. At 12 he began producing and presenting on local radio, sparking his interest in creating content across various mediums. He established The Tech Thread Co, his first ecommerce enterprise months later, immersing himself in the realities of business. Since this time he has created his own podcast POV (Point of View) and Millennial Studios, a media incubator for young people. He continues to advocate for young people’s potential.

NIC EMMERSON

Self Published Author, Inspirational Speaker

Since being discharged from Shenton Park Rehabilitation Hospital 12 months after a life threatening motor vehicle accident, Nic has made many significant achievements. Despite being unable to talk verbally, he communicates with his Ipad or an alphabet board. Despite his challenges, Nic has published an autobiography and has also produced a 30-minute video documentary entitled 'No Limits'. He now dedicates his time to share his story to make a difference for others.
