What: Camp Hero is a leadership camp which hosts 40 of Western Australia’s most inspiring Year 9 to Year 12 students. The camp is facilitated by WA-based not-for-profit organisation zero2hero.

Camp Hero equips students with the skills required to become mental health leaders and ambassadors in their community. Our team of experienced mentors and facilitators will assist students in developing their understanding of the mental health arena through a series of specialised workshops and activities. Students will be encouraged to physically challenge themselves whilst at the same time learn how to communicate more proficiently and how best to care for themselves.

We are seeking dynamic mentors to provide support to these young leaders during their camp experience. Our mentors do not require any formal qualifications however a passion for working with young people is a necessity! Relevant knowledge in relation to mental health would also be advantageous.

Where: Nanga Bush Camp

When: There are 3 Camp Programs scheduled as follows –

1. Tuesday 23rd – Saturday 27th April 2019

2. Monday 30th September – Friday 4th October 2019

Transport: Mentors and volunteers will be responsible for their own transport although zero2hero may be able to assist with car pooling arrangements.

What to Bring: Upon acceptance, an information kit will be sent to you listing all the items you will need to pack for camp.

Safety: We take safety extremely seriously. Risk and safety assessments are conducted prior to each activity.  Speakers and volunteers will act in accordance with zero2hero’s volunteer code of conduct at all times under the supervision of the zero2hero management team.  There will be qualified first aid and bronze medallion volunteers on-site for the duration of the camp.
