We’re Joined The #ThrowShade Initiative!

Big love to our neighbourhood friends at Shade Skin Cancer Medicine in West Perth!

At zero2hero, caring for people has always been at the centre of what we do and our mission is grounded in a simple belief – prevention, education, and early support save lives.

As part of our ongoing commitment to staff wellbeing, we recently partnered with Shade Skin Cancer Medicine’s #ThrowShade initiative – a proactive workplace skin cancer check program designed to make early detection easier and more accessible.

While mental health sits at the heart of everything we do, we know that physical health matters too. Healthy bodies support healthy minds, and both play a vital role in building resilient, thriving individuals and teams.

Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, with two in three Australians diagnosed by age 70. By bringing professional skin checks directly into the workplace, the #ThrowShade initiative removes common barriers and allows staff to prioritise their health without disrupting busy schedules.

For us, participating in #ThrowShade aligns closely with our broader values. Prevention, education, and proactive care sit at the heart of zero2hero’s work, and aligning with Shade Skin Cancer Medicine reflects our preference for partners who take a thoughtful, preventative approach to health. We see initiatives like this as a natural extension of a strong workplace culture. Small, proactive steps can have a meaningful impact, and we hope our involvement encourages other organisations to consider how preventative health initiatives can support their teams over the long term.

A massive thank you to the Shade Skin team for helping our staff take time to look after their health – and for making the process so easy and approachable.
