Taking Hero High Further Across Regional WA

We’re about to take Hero High a whole lot further across regional WA!

Thanks to support from the Department of Communities, we’ll be hitting the road 13 times over the next two years to deliver 204 FREE Hero High workshops to high schools across the Kimberley, Mid West, Wheatbelt and South West.

For us, this funding is about something really simple – where a young person lives shouldn’t determine their access to mental health education.

We spend a lot of time travelling across WA delivering programs, and meeting young people where they are. This funding means we can do even more of that, bringing practical, engaging mental health education directly into regional classrooms, at no cost to them.

What is Hero High?

Hero High delivers a variety of practical, relatable 45–60 minute wellbeing presentations for students in Years 7–12, designed to address the challenges today’s teens are facing. Our workshops help young people better understand mental health, learn practical ways to look after themselves, feel more confident supporting a mate and know where to turn when they need help.

And importantly, they don’t look exactly the same in every classroom.

“Every school and every community is different, and that’s something our facilitators really embrace,” says our Regional Program Manager, Vince.

“We’re not coming in with a one-size-fits-all conversation. We want students to feel comfortable getting involved, asking questions and talking about the things that are actually relevant to them.”

We know that some of the most powerful conversations happen when young people feel like they’re genuinely part of them. That’s what we want Hero High to create – a space where students can ask questions, build their knowledge and walk away with tools they can actually use.

“The more opportunities we can give young people to have these conversations early, the better, and this funding means we can have a lot more of them with young people right across regional WA.”

Schools are encouraged to make the most of this opportunity by booking a program for each year group across the day, ensuring every student no matter age or background receives access to mental education.
